Weekly Newsletter: Jay Perrin def. Josh Smith for CES bantamweight title
New England MMA's Travis Lizotte delivers the live results of CES 64
Lowell, Mass. native Jay Perrin of Syndicate MMA defeated America Top Team’s Josh Smith to take his Classic Entertainment & Sports Bantamweight Title, becoming the #1 135-er in the promotion. The fight had a highly competitive first round, with Perrin and Smith trading blows and each scoring two successful takedowns, “The Joker” edging out Smith in a close 10-9. The second round was a dominant performance by Perrin, pressuring Smith into a clinch against the cage, then taking him down to secure the back and lock up a Rear Naked Choke, the referee stopping the fight after Smith was choked unconscious. This marks Perrin’s second championship belt, next to his Cage Titans #1 bantamweight title.

What’s Missing.
Following the conclusion of Premier FC 31, there’s not much in the way of events from now until CZ74 in late October- the roster of which is still not yet fully released. This does mean that spots are still open- and if they’re taken, that information is not yet publicly known. Going gym-to-gym seeing what fighters are interested in the event and if they know their opponents is something that could be done so that the public knows about the matchups before Combat Zone even releases it.
